# Adjust a member's balance

While Beans is 100% automated and fully integrates with your online shop, there are occasions when you may need to adjust a member's balance. For example, you want to use points to refund a customer instead of refunding them in cash. Another use case is to manually redeem points if a customer cannot redeem their points themselves or the redemption request happened after the order was placed. In that case, you can manually deduct the points from the customer's account and apply a coupon code to their order.

#### Steps

1. From the Beans admin interface, go to **Members**
2. Select the account that you would to credit or debit
3. On the top right, click on **Edit** > **Update the balance**
